Evan And Natasha's WorkSHop
We started with 30 second self portraits, in which no one could look at the page or themselves. then we had everyone draw who was across from them - not looking at the page - and people had 1 minute. then we drew our hands, looking at page and at the hand. then we drew gesture sketches - 30 seconds each and we did a set of seven. then we could draw whatever we wanted for however long we wanted and it went well.

D) what was good about this?
E) what would you change?
I agree with Evan; the workshop was really good. In reponse to Ariel, we used cray-pas and newsprint paper that I bought. It was a small group, as it tends to be on Mondays due to visits, and this was conducive to a really relaxed, calm envirnoment where we could simultaneously be present for each other and just quiet in our drawing when we needed to be. It was so fun to do the "gestures", in which, just like in any studio class, the model posed and went through a series of thirty second poses, to watch all of us gained confidence in capturing movement and lines in a rushed amount of time. It generated this laughter that was so supportive, and trusting, a sort of "I don't know what I'm doing but I have to keep going" into "this is getting easier as I go" into a total confidence and pride. Next time we do a drawing workshop, I will bring in music, at least for the end, in which we could do a portrait of whoever (or whatever) we wanted. For our next workshop we are going to do a reading of a play. We haven't chosen which one yet. Hope you all are well!
whoa... i love plays. if you need some plays to look at i own a whole bunch.
